THE ADVERTISING COUNCIL HELD ITS FIRST MEETING

The Advertising Council, which was established in accordance with the Law No. 6502 on Consumer Protection and which brought together all parties of the advertising industry held its first meeting in coordination with the Ministry of Trade Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance General Directorate in Ankara. Digital advertising opportunities in Turkey and worldwide advertising investments were discussed in the meeting. The meeting was opened by Deputy Minister of Trade Sezai Uçarmak. The members of Advertising Board, representatives of non-governmental organizations and consumer organizations attended the meeting. The coordinator and the deputy coordinator with the Board members of the RÖK Didem Gücüm, Emine Çubukçu and Gökhan Saraç also attended the meeting. Ahmet Erdal, General Manager of Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance, explains the purpose of the establishment of the Advertising Council as “by following up the contemporary and international developments and judicial decisions in the fields of advertising and marketing communication; to develop views and suggestions in order to improve regulation and supervision functions in the related areas”, he also gave information about the overall structure.

Ayşen Akalın, Vice President of the Advertisers Association and Chairman of RÖK and Attn. Ulya Duran, the Coordinator of RÖK, made a presentation about the history of the self regulatory system in the world and in EU, the establishment and the structure of RÖK, field of its activity, compliant statistics, EASA, RÖK’s international activities, its cooperations and projects.
