Since its establishment in 1994, RÖK has been evaluating complaints from advertisers and consumers regarding ads. As a result of these evaluations, RÖK constitutes advisory decisions to ensure compliance – i.e. requiring misleading ads to be amended and/or withdrawn. Compliance by advertisers, advertising agencies and media organizations is crucial to serve consumers with quality and trusted information. Therefore, collaborations are established with industry players who are stakeholders of RÖK. In this context, within the “Priority Flagger Program” launched by Google, RÖK will serve as one of the priority flagger organizations in Turkey in collaboration with Google.
Google employs a wide range of measures to protect its users in the digital world. These measures are supported by both automated systems and human oversight and they’re constantly being improved. The “Priority Flagger Program” developed by Google provides a channel for participating flagger organizations to report potentially harmful issues that violate Google’s policies for certain products and services, as well as Google Community Guidelines. RÖK will participate as one of the priority flagger organizations with an identified expertise in recognizing and fighting harmful online content in at least one policy area.
The program will allow RÖK to report fraud and malicious activity involving Google Ads on products such as Search or YouTube and streamlines the process of identifying and reporting these threats, allowing Google to investigate and remove abusive accounts more efficiently. Participation in this program will significantly enhance RÖK’s capacity to monitor in digital advertising and will allow for more effective tracking of ad compliance. This collaboration will be a significant step for RÖK in fulfilling its mission on a broader scale. The “Priority Flagger Program” to be carried out in partnership with Google, will especially help RÖK to become stronger by addressing responsible online advertising issues through the use of technology.
